Hepatitis is an inflammatory condition of the liver and commonly cause by a viral infection. There are five types of viral hepatitis:
Hepatitis A– transmitted by consuming food or water contaminated with feces from a person infected with Hep A
Hepatitis B- contact with infectious body fluids around 1.2MM Americans live with this chronic condition.
Hepatitis C- direct contact with infected body fluids typically through sexual contact or injection drug use.
Hepatitis D– direct contact with infected blood and caused by the Hepatitis D virus.
Hepatitis E- found in areas with poor sanitation and from ingesting fecal matter that is contaminated.
Every 30 seconds a person will die from a type of hepatitis so on July 28th let’s join to raise awareness.
